ADSL Service Overview

ADSL or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line is a high-speed internet connection, using the same line as a regular telephone. This means it’s an always on, faster internet connection and best of all is you pay one flat rate per month, with no per minute charges for surfing. You can also surf the internet and read your email while using your telephone to make calls – all at the same time! No more engaged tone or missed calls!

Local scene: An ADSL subscriber therefore goes directly to the Internet Service Provider of his choice, who asks Pesco Telecom to connect him via his exchange where a number of DSLAMs have been installed. Considering the size of Lebanon and the distribution of the MOT exchanges, it is very difficult for a subscriber to be outside the required distance in most populated areas. All area traffic is multiplexed via these DSLAMs onto a number of high-speed fiber connections and is forwarded to Pesco Telecom’s core network where it is de-multiplexed, further processed and each subscriber's traffic is then forwarded to his ISP of choice. Presently, offered speeds vary from 128K to 1024K.
